Manecon is more than wineAgro-Cinema
Agro-Cinema at Manecon di Bordera is a visionary initiative that merges agriculture, ancestral memory, and cinematic storytelling—making it more than a winery, but a living cultural archive.
What is Agro-Cinema?
It’s a platform that documents and celebrates the lived experiences, wisdom, and creativity of the Cape Verdean people—especially in and around Chã das Caldeiras and Montinho, where volcanic land shapes both life and legacy.
🌋 What We Produce:
-
Short Films & Docuseries
Capturing grape harvests, volcanic rituals, community celebrations, oral histories, and climate resilience. -
Youth & Community Training
We host film residencies, workshops, and agro-cinema labs where youth learn camera work, editing, and storytelling using the very land they live on as their canvas. -
Experimental Visual Art
Projects that blend natural imagery (volcanoes, vines, fog, soil) with poetic soundscapes and movement.
🎬 Recent/Upcoming Content:
-
“The Last Wish of the Volcano” – A docudrama rooted in Fogo’s spiritual terrain
-
“Harvest of Memory” – A short film capturing women’s work in the vineyard and the power of ancestral hands
-
“Vozes da Terra” (Voices of the Land) – A podcast & visual essay series with elders, farmers, and winemakers
🌍 Why It Matters:
Agro-Cinema preserves endangered knowledge and gives rural, often unheard voices a platform—turning everyday life into meaningful, exportable narratives. It also adds a layer of value to the Manecon brand, helping it stand out internationally as a movement, not just a wine label.
